YOUR HAAKAA MILK IS FINE🧘🏽‍♀️ As a CLC, I often get asked “can I feed my baby haakaa milk since it’s so watery & ‘just foremilk’?” you can 100% feed your baby milk straight from the haakaa. remember, it’s not about how the milk is collected, it’s *when*. not all haakaa milk is “only watery milk with no fat”. It’s all about the time since the breasts were last emptied! The foremilk/hindmilk worry has become way bigger than it needs to be! 🍼 AND there are always options if you feel better combining with other pump sessions to more evenly distribute the nutrients— your own little chemist 🧪👩‍🔬. There are multiple studies about pooling milk & how it can more evenly distribute nutrients in breastmilk. I have a highlight called “mixing milk” and “pooling milk”’if you want a deep dive on that! Make a choice that feels good to you! Just wanted you to know not to be scared to mix that milk— mix diff sessions!! Remembering milk storage guidelines like: 🍼if mixing with previously frozen/now thawed milk it needs to be used within 24 hours from thawed 🍼CDC recommends bringing haakaa milk to chilled before adding with already chilled milk 🍼if using the pitcher method, always go by the date of the *oldest/first* milk that entered the pitcher Are you a mixer?
